The Finite Frontier accepts donations from players.
Donations are made through Tebex, a payment service which specializes in gaming related transactions:
https://finitefrontier.tebex.io
The first and most important rule of donations to the Finite Frontier is that there will never be any kind of pay to win scheme. In other words, donors will not get a competitive advantage over other players by getting access to different features, resources etc.
Donors can access the Sketchpad world, which has the same configuration as the main world but can be used in creative mode.
Donors receive a subtle color change in the in-game chat. One single character changes color, namely the >
which separates the username from the message sent.
Here is the color scheme:
Donor status | Color | Example |
---|---|---|
Non-donor | gray (&7) | |
Gold Subscription | yellow (&e) | |
Lapis Subscription | blue (&9) | |
Diamond Subscription | aqua (&b) | |
Donor but non-subscriber | green (&a) |
If you are a donor but don't want this indicated in the chat, or if you would like to have the color of a lower level than what you are paying for, let Haksndot know!
Donated funds are used to cover expenses for renting servers. At the moment the server costs exceed the amount of donations, so the server is operating at a loss.
If the server manages to break even, the surplus will be used to rent more server capacity. The long-term goal is to have a dedicated physical server with high-end hardware.
Another long-term goal is to finance the development of new server plugins to enable more features related to private property (claims, shops etc).
If the project reaches a point where there is no immediate reason to take on more expenses, Haksndot will happily and proudly take the surplus as his personal profit.
